Information about Roghel via ferrata

The Roghel via ferrata makes up the first stretch connecting Rifugio Berti in Vallon di Popera and Rifugio Carducci that the hikers reach keeping up through Via Ferrata Cengia Gabriella. This wonderful equipped track reaches, through a motley, safe and extremely rewarding path, the scenic col Forcella delle Guglie. This path, with its marvelous views on the Dolomites of Sesto and on valley Valle di Comelico, is really thrilling.

The via ferrata features a 240 meters elevation gain, 1000 meters for the whole climb; 1200 meters is the total elevation loss for the descent.

The Roghel via ferrata, equipped with metal wires, brackets and rungs, develops on sloped ramps with demanding passages but it is always securely equipped. The path stretches among couloirs and rock jumps. The technical issues of this via ferrata must not be underestimate; the path features some vertical stretches, though well equipped with safe, comfortable and close to each-other handholds. The most problematic passage is the crossing of a smooth wall equipped with metal brackets that provide good handholds and footholds.

The excursion starts from Valgrande, in the parking lot by Rifugio Lunelli at an elevation of 1568 meters. Through a nice trail we go up to Rifugio Berti in its wonderful scenic location. As we keep going towards Forcella dei Camosci we climb within the characteristic dolomite environment until we reach the arrack of the via ferrata Roghel, at an elevation of 2320 meters. The descent takes place on the Cadin di Stallata until Bivouac Battaglion Cadore from where we go down through valleys Val Stallata and Val Giralba Bassa all the way to Auronzo. The hikers will take a cab to go back to the starting point.
