The via Ferrata Ombretta (also known Ferrata Vernale) is a short yet super fun equipped trail that connects valley Val Cirelle with Cime de Ombreta. It is part of the marvelous itinerary that leads from Alba di Canazei to the summit of Mount Cima Ombretta at an elevation of 3011 meters; it develops within a wonderful dolomite environment.

This magnificent and scenic via ferrata in the heart of the Marmolada Range allows priceless gazes on the surrounding summits and it helps the hikers cross a rock jump between valley Val Delle Cirelle and the slopes of Mounts Sasso Vernale and Cima Ombretta. It can be covered in about 20 minutes facing an elevation gain of 100 meters (the whole excursion features a 1500 meters elevation gap). Perfect for all hikers, it is equipped with a long metal wire and it does not feature any technical issue but it is rather exposed during its whole development.

The excursion starts from Alba di Canazei; it is long and it calls for good training and good and steady walking pace. The approach stretches through a spectacular path along valleys Val de Contrin and Val di Cirelle all the way to Passo Val di Cirelle and then it reaches the attack of the via ferrata.

The return features a loop path developing within a constantly thrilling environment along the equipped trail that connects Mount Cima Ombretta and Passo Ombretta. From the Pass, then, through valley Val Rosalia the itinerary leads to Rifugio Contrin and to the starting point.
