Information about Bocchette Centrali via ferrata

The Bocchette Centrali via ferrata is considered by many one of the most rewarding equipped trails in the Dolomiti di Brenta. After a first easy climb on the snowfield Nevaio degli Sfulmini, the itinerary develops in high elevation through a wild environment on considerably exposed but optimally equipped ledges. On a clear day the view stretches from Mount Civetta to Mount Marmolada and lake Lago di Molveno on one side and on Mount Campanile Alto and on the majestic Mount Campanile Basso on the other.

The Bocchette Centrali via ferrata is equipped with metal wires and metal ladders of various incline and lengths. Some stretches of the progression develop on ledges and terraces dug in the rock. The key point of the track is the thrilling, horse shoe shaped ledge in the trail Sentiero Figari: a 50 centimeters wide, definitely exposed but optimally equipped stretch that leads all the way until right below the Sfulmini. The path is not particularly hard and it is always optimally equipped but it has significant exposure.

From Madonna di Campiglio we reach the parking lot by Rifugio Vallesinella, at an elevation of 1513 meters, from where the approach starts. In about three hours, after passing Rifugio Casinei, Rifugio dei Brentei and Rifugio Alimonta, we reach the attack of the via ferrata. The descent starts through the glacier under the Bocca di Brenta and then it offers several itinerary options, all of them being very fun.

It is possible to do the excursion to the Bocchette Centrali in 2 days, staying overnight at Rifugio Alimonta.
