Information about via Ferrata Bocchette Alte

The Bocchette Alte via ferrata is a marvelous equipped track that summons and fascinates the hikers with long exposed stretches but it is always securely equipped. During its scenic development this via ferrata goes all the way to Bocchetta Alta dei Massodi, at an elevation of 2950 meters, after passing the flat summit of Mount Spallone dei Massodi (2999 meters) and the south spur of Mount Cima Brenta (3020 meters). The Bocchette Alte via ferrata features a 500 meters elevation gain (1200 meters for the whole excursion).

The track is optimally equipped with metal wires and ladders. One of the most complex passages, yet the most rewarding as well, is the “scala degli amici”, very long and exposed, that is rather tiring due to its declivity (it’s almost vertical). The path does not feature relevant technical issues but some stretches are very exposed. It can be rated as mid grade difficulty and it calls for a minimum of climbing expertise and a good physical condition.

The excursion starts from Rifugio del Tuckett, at an elevation of 2271 meters, that can be reached through an easy trail from the parking lot by Rifugio Vallesinella. The descent takes place through a nice trail down to Rifugio dei Brentei from where we reach the starting point.

It is possible to do the excursion to the High Bocchette in 2 days, staying overnight at Rifugio Tuckett.
