This spectacular ski mountaineering loop tour is a wonderful and incredibly scenic excursion developing within an enchanted environment. It touches Col Bandarrey, Col Fourchon, Col Saint Rhemy and Col Malatrà.

Information about the ski mountaineering loop of Val Ferret

The Val Ferret ski mountaineering loop tour starts from the little villages of Arnouva or Lavachey, on the Italian side of valley Val Ferret; the path goes up towards Rifugio Elena. Passed the rifugio, the hikers will keep going through the bottom of the valley until they will reach Colle di Bandarrey (2696 meters) that is reached passing a short and very steep jump.

Next comes the descent to the Swiss soil, but before that it is possible to go up to the summit of the Aiguille des Angroniettes that rises just above. Entering Switzerland the path goes down to an elevation of about 2150 meters before going up through a couloir towards Col Fourchon (2695 meters).

From there the hikers will go back to Italy with a very beautiful 300-meter-height-loss ski ride. Very fast, then, the path goes up to Colle di St. Rhemy or to the nearby Col d'Arc (2560 maters) from where it goes down to the Comba di Merdeux until it reaches the beautiful farm road.

If the snow conditions allow, it is possible to go down to the brook adding another 300 meter height loss and gain to the loop. The last stretch with the seal skins brings up to the Col Malatrà through a steep slope. From there the path sweetly goes down towards Rifugio Bonatti and it reaches the street that brings the hikers back to the starting point.

Val Ferret ski mountaineering loop tour starts from an elevation of 1769 meters and it reaches a maximum elevation of 2934 meters covering a total 2600 meter height gain. It is rated as BS (good skier) and the orientation is variable.
