This hike features the ascent to one of the most renowned rifugios of the Dolomites, at the base of the east side of Mount Catinaccio. The excursion develops in an always solar environment where it is possible to meet the many climbers and mountaineers that every year come here to climb one of the many vias opened by the real pioneers of mountaineering such as Dulfer, Steger and Piaz.

Information about the trekking to Rifugio Vajolet

The hikers will meet by the parking lot of the bottom station of the Catinaccio cable car in Vigo di Fassa. The cable car will take the hikers up to the Ciampedie ski area, at an elevation of 2'000 meters. From there, through the flat trail number 540, the path enters the Swiss stone pine wood and it reaches Rifugio Gardeccia (1'949 meters).

The trekking to Rifugio Vajolet continues on trail number 546, the hikers will pass under the walls of Mount Catinaccio and of Mount Punta Emma until the historical Rifugio Vajolet (2'243 meters), in the heart of the Mount Catinaccio Range.

The path, then, goes back to the Ciampedie ski area through the climb route and from there the hikers will go back down to Vigo di Fassa taking the cable car.
