Information about the ski touring in Monte Rosa

The ski touring in Monte Rosa offers a 5-day trip starting from, and getting back to, Champoluc. Three overnight stay will be in high mountain, in the characteristic rifugios that can be found through the path, one overnight stay will be in the hotel.

Day One: from Champoluc to Rifugio Pastore (1575 meters)
The ski touring in Monte Rosa starts from Champoluc, at an elevation of 1568 meters, and, through a sweet and incredibly scenic climb, it leads the hikers to Rifugio Pastore, at an elevation of 1575 meters, in the Alagna Valsesia area. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Two: from Rifugio Pastore to Macugnaga
From Rifugio Pastore the tour resumes early in the morning. Through the spectacular Colle del Turlo (2738 meters) the path leads to Macugnaga, at an elevation of 1327 meters, where the skiers will find their accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Three: from Macugnaga to Rifugio Britannia Hütte
From Macugnaga the skiers will take the cable car and they will reach Mount Monte Moro (2796 meters). The itinerary, then, keeps going with a marvelous descent towards Saas-Almagell, a characteristic Swiss village in Canton Vallese. With a transfer the skiers will, then, reach Saas Fee, "La Perla delle Alpi" (the Gem of the Alps) from where, with the cable car again, they will go up to hut Britannia Hütte, at an elevation of 3030 meters, the alpine rifugio of the Mischabel Massif in the Canton Vallese. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Four: from Rifugio Britannia Hütte to Rifugio Guide del Cervino
From Rifugio Britannia Hütte the path goes up and it crosses Allalin Pass before going down towards the village of Täsch from where the skiers will take the train that will bring them to the characteristic and wonderful little village of Zermatt. Taking the Europe's highest cable car, then, from Zermatt the mountaineers will go straight to Mount Piccolo Cervino, or Klein Matterhorn, at an elevation of 3883 meters. Shortly, then, the path gets to Rifugio Guide del Cervino (3480 meters), in Plateau Rosà - Testa Grigia. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Five: from Rifugio Guide del Cervino to Champoluc
From Rifugio Guide del Cervino a marvelous and scenic path leads the skiers to Champoluc. But before that they can have the chance to go up to Mount Breithorn (4165 meters).

The five day ski touring in Monte Rosa is for expert off-piste skiers mastering the skiing techniques on all kind of snows and on steep slopes. It features declivities up to 40° and it is rated as BSA/OSA (good ski mountaineer / very good ski mountaineer); some mountaineering stretches might need to be faced with pick and crampons.
