Information about the ski mountaineering traverse of the Pale di San Martino

The excursion to the Pale di San Martino starts from the parking lot of the ski lift in Col Verde, just above San Martino di Castrozza, on the road to Passo Rolle, at an elevation of 1479 meters of elevation. Taking the two sections of the cable car we reach 2633 meters of elevation right under Cima Rosetta. Skiing, we go down heading north-east and we turn towards Rifugio Rosetta. Passed the rifugio, we get to a little hollow from where we start the beautiful traverse of the upland towards Passo Canali through humps and hollows, climbs and descents.

The long and thrilling ski descent starts from the col among the incredible pinnacles of the Pale di San Martino and it runs through couloirs and slopes offering an exciting off-piste ski ride.

The ski mountaineering traverse of the Pale di San Martino features a 350 meters elevation gain and a 1700 meters elevation loss. It requires good training and mastering of technical skills of ski mountaineering and is rated as BS (Good Skier). Maximum incline is 35 degrees.
