Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Tofana Terza and Vallon de Raola

The ski mountaineering itinerary starts at the parking lot of the Freccia del Cielo cable car taking us up to Ra Valles, where we take the chairlift to Bus de Tofana. After a long traverse just below the overwhelming faces of the Tofane, we reach a short slope that we climb on seal skins up to a natural hole that leads us to a second upward couloir to be negotiated with crampons and pick.

The path continues along a bolted ledge up to the shoulder of the Formenton mountain at 2830 meters; there we begin the thrilling and spectacular freeride descent along majestic amphitheaters and deep valleys, coming down on the north side and reaching the overhanging cliffs of Val Travenanzes.

We put our seal skins on again to tackle a delicate traverse and climb up a couloir taking us to the start of the Raola Valley, a beautiful 800-meter couloir offering another beautiful freeride run.

The excursion ends in Fiames, where we go back to the parking lot of the Freccia del Cielo cable car by bus service, having completed an elevation gain of 650 meters and an elevation loss of over 1600 meters on the descent. It requires good training and mastering of ski mountaineering technical skills because of the BSA (Good Mountain Skier) rating.
