The ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Mulaz is an excitng hike within the Pale di San Martino Range with a complete, rather demanding and steep development. It features a nice progression through couloirs using crampons and pick and rather technical stretches. The view is marvelous and the long and pleasant descent takes place through beautiful slopes.

Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Mulaz

The excursion starts from the parking lot at the foot of Val Venegia and it follows the comfortable flat forest track that goes towards Campigol della Vezzana, at an elevation of 1918 meters. Climbing up northward through a nice couloir, we gain elevation within an enchanting environment, among marvelous and incredibly scenic peaks: Mount Campanile di Val Strut, Mount Torre delle Farangole, Mount Cima di Focobon, Mount Quattro Dita, Mount Cima dei Bureloni, Mount Cima Valgrande and Mount Campanile di Valgrande.

After a short plain, we climb up until we reach Passo del Mulaz, at an elevation of 2619 meters, and we face the steep slope of the east side of Mount Mulaz up to an elevation of 2750 meters. After crossing a col and making a tricky traverse, we keep going through the north ridge that smoothly leads to the famous bell on the summit.

The descent can take place either through the climb route or towards Falcade through Valle di Focobon getting back to the starting point by taxi or using the ski lift in Falcade reaching, then, Passo di Valles skiing down the tracks.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Mulaz features a 1300 meters elevation gain and loss.It requires good training and mastering of technical skills of ski mountaineering and is rated as BSA (Good Ski Mountaineer). Maximum incline is 40 degrees.
