From the little village of San Nicolao the path goes all the way to ford Guado Sant'Antonio from where, righ by Colle del Lettuccio, the excursion starts.

Skis on shoulder, the hikers will climb fast and they will reach a ridge, at an elevation of 1100 meters, from where they will put their skis on and they will head east. The hikers will enter into the impluvium that, with an easy climb, will lead them to Rifugio Barrasso. Through the mice little wood of Fratta Tonna, then, the path gets to a scenic terrace on which, as an option, the excursion can come to an end. To reach the summit the hikers will have to cross the terrace and overcome the last stretch.

The marvelous descent ski ride takes place through the climb route. As an alternative, it is possible to go down through the couloirs of the "Fraticello Martuccio" area and reach the old asphalt street of Macerepiane that leads to the starting point.

The ski mountaineering exscursion to Mount Monte Rapina is rated as MS (mid grade skier). It starts from an elevation of 900 meters and it reaches an elevation of 2027 meters covering a 1200 meter elevation gap. The path during the descent mostly faces north.
