The ski mountaineering to Monte Amaro through the Rava della Giumenta Bianca, or "Direttissima", in the Majella National Park, starts from Passo San Leonardo, at an elevation of 1282 metrrs.

Through a moat the path leads to a wooded hump. As they keep going east among clearings and beech scrubs, the hikers will go up among the trees towards the evident couloir of the Rava della Giumenta Bianca. Entering the Rava, in the woods in the beginning, the path goes up through the slide that, steeper and steeper, climbs getting slightly narrower before widening up again. Going out of the Rava through a nice little col the path looks out on the solitary and evocative valley Valle di Femmina Morta.

From the col a last stretch through the south side of the wide hump of the summit of Monte Amaro leads to the Cross, at an elevation of 2793 meters. On the summit bivouac Bivacco Pelino offers shelter from the wind and from the bad weather.
