Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Croda del Becco

The excursion starts from Hotel Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee), at an elevation of 1494 meters. Through the cross-country ski track that runs over the lake we reach the south shore. We, then, approach the valley just by the Croda del Becco and we keep going through the rocks in growing declivity. After crossing a hollow and going up a valley we get to a wide basin right at the foot of Croda del Becco.

Passing some further hollows we climb up until Forcella Sora Forno, at an elevation of 2388 meters. We climb up through the ridge and then through an equipped stretch. The final slope, wide and not excessively steep, leads to the top. The view, with the underlying lake, is marvelous and stretches on all the Dolomites. The descent, wonderful and rewarding, takes place through the climb route.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Croda del Becco (Seekofel, Sas dla Porta) features a 1450 meters elevation gain and loss. It requires good training and mastering of technical skills of ski mountaineering and is rated as BSA (Good Ski Mountaineer). Maximum incline is 40 degrees.
