The spectacular ski mountaineering excursion to Cima Marmotta starts from Rifugio Genziana, right at the end of Martello Valley (Val Martello), at an elevation of 2051 meters.

Going up through an evocative little street the mountaineers will reach Rifugio Corsi, at an elevation of 2265 meters, perched in its marvelous position on a scenic rocky spur. Passed some rocky crags the mountaineers will traverse and pop out on a wonderful wide and flat valley. They will, then, cross an suggestive little bridge and they will keep going through the valley to some sweet slopes that will lead them to Rifugio Martello, at an elevation of 2610 meters.

Climbing some steeper slopes, then, the hikers will get to the ice basin of Vedretta Alta. Going up through it, they will reach the ridge from where they will climb to the summit of Cima Marmotta.

The descent takes place through the climb route and it provides a very rewarding ski ride.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Cima Marmotta reaches an elevation of 3330 meters and it features a 1300 meter elevation gain and loss. The itinerary faces north and it is a mid grade difficulty path that can be done in about 6 hours. Even though it does not feature extreme technical issues, the path calls for a good physical training and some mountaineering ski experience.
