Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Camicia
This amazing excursion in Gran Sasso starts from Rifugio Fonte Vetica, at an elevation of about 1610 meters. The path climbs up heading for a little couloir just aside of the valley and it enters the beautiful pine grove before climbing a couloir and reaching a col sheer on the valley.
A long traverse, then, cuts all the slope of Mount Tremoggia and it enters valley Vallone di Vradda, right under the col between the ridge that leads to Mount Monte Tremoggia and Mount Monte Camicia. From the col the skiers will go up the wide overhead slope until the final ridge that, shortly, leads to the summit, at an elevation of 2564 meters.
The descent starts through the ridge for a short stretch before entering the wide north-east slope and skirting the rocky walls to go down to the valley. Once on the parallel couloir, then, after a short bottleneck, the path will go back to the main couloir and it will follow the bottom of the valley. Once on the plain, the path will shortly lead back to the parking lot.
For the descent it is possible to make a steep variation through couloir Canale del Masso del Camicia. It develops through the elegant and steep couloir that crosses Masso del Camicia.

It starts from an elevation of 1600 meters and it reaches an elevation of 2564 meters for a 964 meter total elevation gap. During the descent the path mostly faces south-east.
