The excursion starts from the refreshment point Säge - Jausenstation Säge, at an elevation of 1580 meters, just above the village of Riva di Tures - Rein in Taufers, in Val del Rio - Bachertal. The itinerary starts from a wide plain and it keeps going through a forest track up to a crucified Christ statue, at an elevation of 1000 meters.

A definitely steep stretch through an evocative wood and another through an open, flat meadow will lead us, after crossing the creek over a nice little bridge, to Rifugio Roma. Another religious statue will tell us that it’s time to turn towards Monte Covoni - Tristennöckl and climb up through the hanging glacier. Making a loop, then, we will reach the summit. The fun ski descent takes place through the climb route.
