The ski mountaineering to Mount Corno Bussola starts from the Estoul parking lot (Brusson in Val d'Ayas). Taking the Estoul-Palasinaz cable car the hikers will reach lake Lago Litteran from where, they with the seals skins, will go up towards Alpe Palasinaz.

As it keeps going, the path goes up heading for Mount Corno Boussola and it reaches Mount Colle Palasinaz. Within a marvelous environment the spectacular descent starts and it heads for Mascognaz. Several variations to the standard paths are possible; some of them feature mountaineering access and exciting couloirs for the descent. After crossing the ancient Walser village of Mascognaz, a superb ski ride through the woods leads to Champoluc.

The ski mountaineering traverse from Palasinaz to Mascognaz features a climb that takes about four and a half hours and it covers a 1150 meter elevation gain. It calls for a basic experience in off-piste skiing. It crosses slopes up to 30° and it is rated as MS/BS (mid grade skier / good skier). Some short stretches might need to be done with crampons.
