The ski mountaineering to Capanna Margherita and Punta Gnifetti starts from Frachey (Champoluc), or Alagna or Staffal (Gressoney), the skiers will take the cable car and they will go up to Indren, at an elevation of 3275 meters.

Day One: Frachey - Punta Indren - Rifugio Mantova or Capanna Gnifetti.
The ski touring itinerary starts from Punta Indren (3275 meters). With a marvelous progression the skiers will reach Capanna Gnifetti hut (3647 meters) on their skis, or (in case of no vacancy) Rifugio Mantova (3498 meters). Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Two: Rifugio Mantova or Capanna Gnifetti - Capanna Regina Margherita - Frachey.
From the refuge the path resumes and it leads the hikers until under Mount Corno Nero; the mountaineers will pass, then, aside of mount Ludwigshole and of Mount Parrot before reaching Mount Colle del Lys (4250 meters). Crossing an enchanted environment, the path leads, then, by Mount Colle Gnifetti and, passing the "Rivet", a shortand rather steep stretch, to Capanna Regina Margherita hut.

The fantastic descent ski ride takes place through the climb route until the cable car with which the hikers will get back to Frachey, Alagna or Staffal.

The ski mountaineering to Capanna Regina Margherita hut (4554 meters) in the Monte Rosa Massif is an itinerary for rather expert off-piste skiers mastering the skiing techniques on all kind of snow and on steep slopes. It features declivities up to 30° and it is rated as MS/BS (mid grade ski mountaineer / good ski mountaineer); the excursion features some climbing stretches that might need to be faced with crampons.
