Information about the ski mountaineering excursion at the Tofane Group on Vallon de Raola

The excursion begins at the parking lot of the Freccia del Cielo cable car taking us to Ra Valles, where we board the chairlift to Bus de Tofana. After a few off-piste spins under the majestic faces of the Tofana and along very nice slopes and gullies, we negotiate a long traverse skirting the faces of Tofana di Mezzo, Terza Tofana and Formenton, on to the pass leading to the spectacular Vallon de Raola.

Facing north, the deep valley is uniquely beautiful and unparalleled, treating us to an unforgettable freeride ski run, evenly paced and quite steep for about 1000 meters. When we reach the end, we follow a trail in the woods, very interesting for the nature surrounding us and leading us to Fiames where we take the bus to get back.

The freeride excursion to the Vallon de Raola has an off-piste elevation loss of about 1600 meters. It requires good training and mastering of skiing techniques because of its BS (Good Skier) rating. Maximum incline is 40 degrees.
