Information about the off-piste skiing in Chamonix to Glacier Rond

The off-piste skiing in Chamonix to Glacier Rond starts taking the Aiguille du Midi cable car. The free-riders will ride both the stretches of the Téléphérique Aiguille du Midi. They will go down through the ridge that leads to a wide and beautiful plateau.

Skirting the south side of Mount Aiguille du Midi, they will ski down to its base crossing a marvelous and incredibly scenic environment. After getting right by Rifugio del Cosmiques, the path goes back up through the ramp squeezed between Mount Abri Simond and Rifugio del Cosmiques.

The free-riders, then, will reach the summit and they will traverse all the way to the summit of the glacier (skiing or walking, according to the weather conditions). The itinerary of the off-piste descent starts from a steep ridge before turning towards the exit couloir. The ski ride keeps going through the whole length of the couloir all the way to the glacier Ghiacciaio dei Bossons.

After passing several crevasses of the glacier two paths are possible: the hikers can keep going towards Chamonix through the marvelous woods until the Monte Bianco Tunnel and reach the village, or they can make a long traverse to reach the middle stations of the Aiguille du Midi cable car (Plan De l'Aiguille).

The off-piste skiing in Chamonix to Glacier Rond is a particularly technical itinerary; it calls for good mastery of the rope maneuvers and glacier experience. It is possible to find situations in wich a rappel might be necessary. The complete freeride and glacier equipment is needed.
