Information about the Sorapiss Lake trekking tour

The Sorapiss Lake trekking tour offers unforgettable views along an easy itinerary that follows a trail never overly difficult and bolted in the more exposed vertical sections with fixed ropes and iron aiders. It is ideal even for poorly trained hikers and for families.

Sorapiss lake is located at an elevation of almost 2000 meters and stands out from all the other lakes in the Dolomites because of the spectacular turquoise shade of the water. It is fed by the glacier of the same name and gets its peculiar color from the water that comes in contact with particular rock powders on its way to the subsoil. The lake is surrounded by many kinds of flowers. The fire-red rhododendrons are a wonderful natural frame making this landscape so uniquely beautiful.

The Sorapiss Lake trekking tour begins near Passo Tre Croci where we take trail #215 that follows a nice dirt road going through the woods; further on, it starts climbing and gently overtakes the bolted sections that provide hikers safe and easy passage. We negotiate the return on the same trail we took earlier; alternatively, we take a detour recommended to well-trained individuals and leading toward the Marcoira pass, in a circle-making pattern.
