Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Tofane Group on Vallon dei Comate

The freeride skiing in Tofane Group begins at the parking lot of the Freccia del Cielo cable car, taking us up to Ra Valles where we board the chairlift to Bus de Tofana. After a few off-piste spins under the majestic faces of Tofana di Mezzo, we come down a stretch of slope leading to the entrance of the Forcella Rossa. From there, we climb up on foot and with our skis on our backpack a short but steep slope leading to 2410 meters at the top of Ra Zestes; then we easily continue up to a pass leading to the downhill slopes.

The deep valley is not too steep and turns out to be nice and wide, ideal for an evenly paced run leading all the way down to the forest. We can go straight among the larches down to the valley in the Fiames area where we get on the the bus taking us back to our starting point, or else it is possible to go back to the lifts on a long traverse for another ski run.

The excursion to Valle dei Comate has an off-piste elevation loss of about 1400 meters. It requires good training and mastering of skiing techniques because of the BS (Good Skier) rating. Maximum incline is 33 degrees.
