Punta Gnifetti (4554), is a popular mountain peak located in the Pennine Alps of Italy and Switzerland. It is one of the many stunning peaks in the Monte Rosa massif. The mountain is famous for being home to the Capanna Regina Margherita, which is the highest hut in the Alps, offering spectacular views and a base for mountaineers and hikers.

Punta Gnifetti & Margherita Hut mountaineering experience

Climbing to Punta Gnifetti & Margherita Hut features an exciting, scenic and extremely rewarding mountaineering experience. It does not feature extreme technical issues but it entails a good physical effort and a certain confidence with elevation and high mountain environments.

Day 1
Meeting point and departure from Staffal at Gressoney-La-Trinité. Ascent with the cable car up to Indren. About 2 hours walk to the refuge.
Dinner and overnight stay at the Mantova Refuge (3455) or at the Gnifetti Refuge (3610)

Day 2
After breakfast, early in the morning the ascent will start to Punta Gnifetti (Signalkuppe) and Capanna Regina Margherita (4554), passing from the colle del Lys. Descent by the same route and return to Gressoney-La-Trinité with lifts.
