Information about the off-piste skiing to Valle del Verra

The freeride ski excursion can start from the station of the Plateau Rosà cable car going up through the Mount Piccolo Cervino ski track or from the top station "gaining", then, a little elevation. Following the tracks that lead to the hill of Mount Breithorn the path, then, turns south and the descent starts where glacier Ghiacciaio della Gobba di Rollin starts connecting with glacier Ghiacciaio della Verra.

Going through the glacier the free-riders will skirt the mountain side and they will pass some rocky towers going up in high declivity under the huge seracs. The path, then, reaches an incredibly scenic point where the change of declivity creates enormous ice bridges. The off-piste descent keeps going aside of evocative mountain walls and it leads to the huge Western Verra Moraine and to beautiful lake Lago Blu.

After passing the little lake, the path goes down through the nice summer trail all the way to the low plaines of Verra and to the high ones. Once they cross the bridge on brook Torrente della Verra, the hikers will go down skiing through the Resy side. From there the path will reach the little village of S. Jaques either through the forest track through some nice bends or taking some very nice shortcuts among the larchs.

The freeride skiing from Cervinia to Champoluc, through valley Valle della Verra, does not feature extreme technical issues but it needs to be faced with caution, as it develops on glacier. Good physical training and good skiing experience are needed. This hike needs some logistic arrangements since the starting point and the arrival point are rather far from one another.
