Information about the backcountry skiing in Aosta Valley

The Three Valleys backcountry skiing, in Aosta Valley, starts in Antagnod. On their skis the hikers will go up to the Pian Pera cable car and they will reach Mount Colle Pillonet. From there the marvelous ski ride starts stretching towards the enchanted hamlet of Chamois, a village part of the "Perle delle Alpi" (Gems of the Alps) that can be reached only with the skis or by cable car (cars are not allowed).

Again with the cable car, then, the hikers will go up to Mount Colle di Fontanafredda and they will go down -with another spectacular ski ride- to the village of Cheneil and from there to the bottom station of the Valtournenche cable car.

Taking the cable car, then, the mountaineers will reach Mount Colle delle Cime Bianche that in the old days was a crossing point for the commercial exchanges from and to Switzerland. With a last very beautiful ski ride the hikers will go down through valley Vallone di Cime Bianche, they will get back to Ayas and they will finish their day in the village of St Jacques.

The backcountry skiing tour of the Three Valleys features a climb that can be done in about two and a half hours. It covers a 500 meter elevation gain and it calls for a basic experience in off-piste skiing. It features slopes up to 40° and it is rated as BSA/OSA (good ski mountaineer / very good ski mountaineer).

  • Participants Anyone over the age of 16, with an adequate level of training and fitness, can participate in this experience.

  • Excursion price The price shown is for the excursion with the dedicated mountain guide and possible transfer using the guide's private vehicle. It is valid for individual reservations for a number of participants that does not exceed the maximum number allowed.
  • Skipass The excursion requires the skipass, which is not included in the price, and may be purchased at the ski-lift ticket offices in the departure area.
