The freeride experience in the Vesses Couloirs is a really spectacular and thrilling off-piste skiing excursion. The itinerary is easily accessible from the area of the Courmayeur Mont Blanc Funivie cable cars but, inspite of the fact that it is so close to the ski-lifts, it offers a fabulous path within an immaculate environment and a spectacular view on Mount Monte Bianco.

The freeride itinerary develops on the area aside of the little Youla cable car, inside a wide natural aphitheater, a real paradise for the freeriders. The path faces north and, after a nice snowfall, it always offers perfect powder conditions.

  • Cresta Youla
  • 5 hours
  • Medium difficulty

Information about the off-piste skiing experience

The freeride descent through the Vesses couloir starts after passing the screens of the top station of the Funivia Youla cable car. The ski ride is marvelous right away and it leads to a flatter area. Then comes a funnel shaped slope that leads the skiers to the couloir that –at about halfway- features a bottleneck that needs to be faced with caution.

After that stretch, the ski ride goes on thrilling and super fun until the bottom of the couloir. Another rather delicate stretch comes when the path crosses the brook; then the descent flows comfortable as the mountaineers ski down serene and very happy all the way to the Zerotta chairlift, from which it is possible to return to the Courmayeur ski circuit and head for more off-piste descents.
