Information about the Matterhorn ski touring

The Matterhorn ski touring experience starting from, and getting back to, Bionaz. The overnight stay will be at some of the characteristic alpine rifugios that are on the path and that offer very good cousin and great quality wines and beers.

Day One: from Bionaz to Rifugio Prarayer
The ski touring in Matterhorn starts from the village of Bionaz, at an elevation of 1606 meters and, with a marvelous progression in an evocative and scenic environment, it leads the skiers to Rifugio Prarayer, at an elevation of 2005 meters. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Two: from Rifugio Prarayer to Rifugio Nacamuli
The itinerary resumes early in the morning from Rifugio Prarayer and it goes up to Becca Vannetta (3363 meters) that prepares the very beautiful and exciting ski ride towards Rifugio Nacamuli, at an elevation of 2818 meters. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Three: From Rifugio Nacamuli to Rifugio Guide del Cervino
From Rifugio Nacamuli the path goes up to Col Collon, at an elevation of 3074 meters, before going down through glacier Ghiacciaio d'Arolla. The skiers will, then, reach the summit of Mount Col del Mont Brulè (3230 meters) and of Mount Tete de Valpelline (3798 meters). Then comes a superb off-piste ski ride that goes down to Zermatt from where, taking the cable car, the hikers will go up to Rifugio Guide del Cervino, at an elevation of 3480 meters. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Four: From Rifugio Guide del Cervino to Rifugio Prarayer
From Rifugio Guide del Cervino the skiers will go up to Chateau des Dames (3488 meters) with the seals skins. From the summit a very beautiful descent starts and it leads to Rifugio Prarayer, at an elevation of 2005 meters. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day Five: From Rifugio Prarayer to Bionaz
The last very beautiful leg leads to Rifugio Prarayer back to the village of Bionaz.

The five day ski touring in Matterhorn (Mount Cervino) is an itinerary for expert off-piste skiers mastering the skiing techniques on all kind of snow and on steep slopes. It features declivities up to 40° and it is rated as BSA/OSA (good ski mountaineer / very good ski mountaineer); it features some mountaineering stretches that might have to be faced with pick and crampons.
