Information about via Ferrata Dino Buzzati

The via Ferrata Dino Buzzati, in the Pale di San Martino, is a very beautiful equipped path thet, within a wild environment, climbs up the south-east side of Mount Cimerlo. It is a rather long and very motley climb that features some mid grade technical issues but it is very well equipped. The via ferrata features a 400 meters elevation gain; 1200 meters for the total excursion. The via Ferrata Dino Buzzati, being completely restored recently, is very well maintained and optimally equipped. Except for a couple of exposed and rather technical stretches the path does not feature extremely hard passages. The itinerary is pretty long and it calls for good training. The rock is sufficiently solid and the path is equipped with metal wires and ladders.

The excursion starts from valley Val Canali, in the village of Prati Fosne. The approach develops through nice trails in the woods until right below the south walls of Mount Cimerlo. Passing a couple of couloirs and a little col, we reach the attack of the via ferrata. The descent is spectacular and it develops through a steep equipped couloir first and then along the engaging equipped trail Sentiero del Cacciatore. A comfortable trail, then, will bring the hikers back to the starting point.
