Information about the Cengia Paolina trekking in the Tofane Group

The most experienced and demanding hikers covet and seek this beautiful, wild and adventurous itinerary; there are no references in tour books about it, and the trail is unmarked and hard to read. Therefore, it is negotiable only with the help of an expert local mountain guide. The trekking on the Cengia Paolina treats us to unforgettable views in a very striking environment, along a demanding route retracing mostly the tracks of the Great War, in sight of the Tofana Range and the Val Travenanzes.

The starting point is from the Rifugio Giussani at an altitude of 2600 meters; we get there in one hour, walking easily from the parking lot of Rifugio Dibona. The trail twists and turns among debris terraces, exposed ledges, natural passages set among rocks and snow, passes, couloirs and amusing screes; at the end it reaches Ra Valles where the Freccia del Cielo cable car takes us back to Cortina.
