Information about the steep skiing excursion in the Cortina couloirs #1

The excursion begins at the parking lot of the Freccia del Cielo cable car, up to Ra Valles where we get on the chairlift to Bus de Tofana. On foot, , we climb a slope with our skis on our backpack to a panoramic pass. We continue our descent secured to the guide, along a fun and thrilling via ferrata reaching the great hole dividing the north and the south sides. The descent unfolds along a spectacular couloir dropping directly from the Bus. It starts out as narrow, steep and technical, then gets wider, treating us to an unforgettable run. At the end of the couloir the descent trail goes on through wide and gentle slopes down to Rifugio Dibona. Following the ski slopes from the lodge, we board the lifts taking us back again to Bus de Tofana.

We proceed on a long traverse skirting the faces of the Tofana di Mezzo, the Tofana Terza and the Formenton, reaching a pass leading into the spectacular Vallon de Raola. This deep valley that faces north has a unique and unparalleled beauty, treating us to a thrilling and unforgettable freeride run, quite steep yet always evenly paced. When we reach the end, we follow a trail in the woods leading to Fiames, where we take a bus to get back.

The freeride excursion to the Bus de Tofana and the Vallon de Raola has an off-piste elevation gain of about 3000 meters. It requires good training and mastering of skiing techniques because of its BS (Good skier) rating. Maximum incline is 40 degrees.

Please Note: depending on snow conditions, the mountain guide may choose to switch the order of descent of the two couloirs.
