The ski mountaineering excursion to Monte Intermesoli starts from the little village of Prati di Tivo. From the piazza, right by the hotel, the path climbs up through the street that leads to valley Val Maone. After passing a wood and a clearing the hikers will go down skirting the slopes of Mount Corno Piccolo all the way through valley Val Maone and to the source of river Rio Arno.

The path will go up through the valley until the wide and very beautiful carsic upland of Campo Pericoli. Turning deeply the hikers will enter the wide hump under col Sella dei Grilli that can be reached through the wide couloir. Going up to the summit pyramid of Mount Pizzo Intermesoli the hikers will pass a rocky barrier through a steep little couloir and they will keep going through a more open slope until the south summit of Mout Intermesoli, at an elevation of 2635 meters.

The descent through hump Conca del Sambuco starts skirting the line of the ridge until a little col before entering the couloir. The hikers will, then, reach a wide col between the north and the south summits and they will pop out on the steep side of hump Conca del Sambuco. The slope, then, gets wider and more comfortable and it leads to the wide hump closed towards the valley by Mount Picco dei Caprai.

The descent keeps going until the first trees and it proceeds through the avalanche couloir among the beechwood until the bottom of valley Valle del Rio Arno from where two paths are possible: one ca reach Pietracamela going down through valley Valla del Rio Arno, or one can go up in the valley through the summer trail until they will connect with the climb route by the falls of river Rio Arno before going back to Prati di Tivo.
