Information about the ski mountaineering to Monte delle Mine
The ski mountaineering excursion to Monte delle Mine starts from the little village of Trepalle, by Pont del Rezz. Through the Vallaccia little street the hikers will reach the chalets of Vallaccia, at an elevation of 2106 meters.
The itinerary keeps going beautiful through the east slopes of Mount Monte della Neve before heading south-west and - with a long traverse - going up with free path on sweet plains and humps; the evident snowy pyramid of Mount Monte delle Mine is a constant reference for the hikers.
From the final slopes it is possible to get to the scenic col (at an elevation of about 2700 meters) before going all the way to the summit through the steep north ridge. As an alternative, one can keep climbing through the west ridge of Mount Monte della Neve to get to the big amphitheater before reaching the summit.
The descent can take place through the climb routes or trough the many sweet large valleys. For the steep ski lovers an interesting option is the descent through couloir Canalone di Clus towards Livigno; from the summit the ski ride develops towards the valley of Livigno skirting (without getting into it) the evident underlying couloir. Going down through the ridge until the edge of the woods, the skiers will, then, gradually enter the couloir (35°) and they will go down all the way to the plain of Livigno.
The ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Monte delle Mine features an 862 meter elevation gain and the climb can be done in about three hours. The path does not feature relevant technical issues and it is good for the beginners as well.
