Information about the ski mountaineering to Val Setus

The ski mountaineering to Val Setus starts by taking the Sass Pordoi cable car that will take us to rifugio Maria (2950 meters of elevation), one of the most scenic spots in the Dolomites. Once on the top we go down to Forcella Pordoi, where we put on the seal skins to proceed towards Piz Boè.

The hike goes on in a magnificent environment offering spectacular views and leading us to the opening of vallone del Pisciadù. Skiing down through the valley we go almost all the way to Rifugio Cavazza al Pisciadù, where we need to put our seal skins back on to face a short uphill stretch that takes to the opening of the majestic coilour of Val Setus.

The thrilling ski descent starts along a steep narrow way, between very high rock walls. Then it opens and gets sweeter offering a wide, fast and smooth ski ride to the Sellaronda ski tracks and to the starting point.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Val Setus features a 400 meters elevation gain and a 1000 meters elevation loss. It requires good ski mountaineering skills. It is rated as BS (Good Skier). Max downhill declivity: 40°.
