Mount Pizzo Cantone, 2904 meters, is a very beautiful conical shaped mountain with steep and detrital sides and with rather sweet and rounded buttresses. Its shape with its white-grey colored calcareous-dolomitic rocks clearly stands out in an area dominated by dark metamorphic rocks.
The ski mountaineering excursion to this mountain is a particularly pleasant and fun itinerary: a rather easily reachable and extremely scenic peak. The path is not very popular and it offers wonderful landscapes and precious silences. The descent ski ride is priceless.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Pizzo Cantone starts from Livigno, by the Hotel Forcola. In a wonderful environment the path goes up to the chalets at the entrance of valley Valle del Monte and then it goes on through the mule track that leads to the Cascine del Monte and to a wooden Cross.
As they keep climbing -still on the mule track- the hikers will pass a sloping ground and they will cross the evident little valley and the nice and picturesque brook. From there, then, the path goes up through hollows and little valleys towards the rocky ridge of Punta Cantone before entering the hollow right under the west part of the rocky ridge.
Traversing, then, skirting valley Valletta del Monte di Fuori, the progression keeps going and it gains elevation until it reaches the hill, 2841 meters, from where the hikers will comfortably reach the summit going up through the ridge.
The descent takes place through the climb route. The ski ride is really spectacular: the slopes are great and the snow is perfect almost all the time.
