Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Monte Nevoso - Schneebiger Nock

The excursion starts from the refreshment point of Säge - Jausenstation Säge, at an elevation of 1580 meters, not far from Riva, in Val del Rio – Bachertal. The climb starts through a marvelous alpine environment and it goes up through not too steep slopes until we reach the couloir that leads to the north side of Mount Nevoso. Along the valley and through steep slopes, we get to a col, at an elevation of 3120 meters.

Through the glacier, then, we reach one of the shoulders of the ridge where we leave our skis to face the demanding yet spectacular last stretch that through the ridge leads to the summit Cross. The view from there is peerless. It stretches onto Vedrette di Ries, on Collalto, on Collaspro and on all the “3000s” in the Alpi Aurine Range. The descent takes place through the climb route and it offers unforgettable emotions and a lot of fun.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Monte Nevoso - Schneebiger Nock features a 1800 meters elevation gain and loss. It requires good training and mastering of technical skills of ski mountaineering and is rated as OSA (Excellent Mountain Skier). Maximum incline is 45 degrees.
