Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Creste Bianche at the Cristallo Mountain

The ski mountaineering itinerary starts at 2215 meters at Son Forca which can be reached by the Cristallo chairlift, where we put on our skis fitted with seal skins. From there we start climbing a long stretch leading to Forcella Grande at 2870 meters, between the Cristallino d'Ampezzo and the Creste Bianche.

From the pass we ski down the beautiful slopes called Pra del Vecio, then on through a long and narrow canyon, easily handled by zigzagging among large boulders and frozen waterfalls; finally, we reach a trail through the woods, leading to the Passo Cimabanche Chalet. We return by taxi service to our starting point.

The skiing excursion to Creste Bianche has an elevation gain of 800 meters and an elevation loss on the descent of 1500 meters. It requires good training and excellent technical ski mountaineering skills and has an AD (Rather Difficult) difficulty rating. Maximum incline is 35 degrees.
