Pollux mountaineering ascent from Verra Glacier

The Pollux mountaineering ascent through the Verra Glacier, along the Normal Route alternates techniques on glaciers and snow ridges, rock climbing of moderate difficulty and sections equipped with fixed ropes.

Day one
The meeting point is in St Jacques - Champoluc. The itinerary starts from Pian di Verra Superiore, reachable by Jeep, and it goes towards the little valley of glacier Piccolo Ghiacciaio di Verra. The itinerary goes on through the steep morainic graveled slope of glacier Grande Ghiacciaio di Verra. The path, then, will lead the mountaineers to Refuge Guide di Ayas (3420 m). Dinner and overnight stay.

Day two
From Refuge Guide di Ayas the itinerary resumes going up the slopes. A rather steep stretch preceds an equipped stretch that allows to overcome some smooth slabs. The path, then, leads to a little col from where the sharp snowy ridge starts and it leads to the summit of Mount Pollux (Monte Polluce). The descent is along the same climbing route.
