Day one of Gran Paradiso ski mountaineering tour
From Valnontey Cogne (1666 meters) to Rifugio Vittorio Sella (2584 meters)
The Gran Paradiso ski mountaineering tour starts from the village of Valnontey. After crossing the creek the path takes the mule track that crosses the valley and it keeps climbing through the summer trail that goes up through the larch woods. After crossing, then, creek Torrente Gran Lauson the hikers will pass some sweet slopes before reaching the huts of Gran Lauson and the plateaux on which the rifugio stands.
Day two of Gran Paradiso ski mountaineering tour
From Rifugio Vittorio Sella to Mount Gran Serraz (3552 meters)
From the rifugio the path resumes going up through the valley and for a short stretch it follows glacier Ghiacciaio del Lauson before going up a steep couloir that goes up all the way to glacier Ghiacciaio Gran Val. Going up through the glacier the hikers will reach the east ridge of Mount Gran Serz on the highest possible spot and then they will keep climbing until they will reach the summit. Going down through an evocative little couloir the path reaches glacier Ghiacciaio di Timorion through which it will go down on wonderful slopes before reaching the slopes that marks the glacier. A marvelous and steep slope leads the hikers to glacier Ghiacciaio del Gran Neiron from where, then, they will go back up to the east hill of Mount Gran Neyron, at an elevation of 3’404 meters, on which bivouac Bivacco Sberna stands. Going down the hikers will reach glacier Ghiacciaio di Montandayne and they will keep going all the way to Rifugio Chabod (2750 meters).
Day three of Gran Paradiso ski mountaineering tour
From Rifugio Chabod (2750 meters) to Mount Gran Paradiso (4061 meters)
Following the summer itinerary the path goes up through glacier Ghiacciaio di Laveciau and with a wide "S" it reaches the plateaux and it keeps going south-east until it gets by Mount Becca di Moncorvé. In steep declivity first and then on milder slopes the path gets closer to the summit that is reached with rope and crampons. The super fun descent ski ride takes place through the climb route until the snowy hump of the Schiena d'Asino that devides glacier Ghiacciaio del Gran Paradiso from glacier Ghiacciaio di Laveciau; through glacier Ghiacciaio del Gran Paradiso the hikers will ski down on marvelous slopes and they will reach Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele.
Day four of Gran Paradiso ski mountaineering tour
From Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele (2735 meters) to the hill of Mount Gran Paradiso (3345 meters)
From the rifugio the path resumes leading the hikers through an evocative and spectacular environment. Shortly they will reach glacier Ghiacciaio del Montcorvè and they will climb it all. Going down, then, through the beautiful glacier Ghiacciaio di Noaschetta the hikers will keep going until they will reach bivouac Bivacco Ivrea, at an elevation of 2770 meters. From the bivouac, through a marvelous climb, the path, then, will reach Col dei Becchi (2990 meters) before going down to Rifugio Pontese, at an elevation of 2200 meters.
Day five of Gran Paradiso ski mountaineering tour
From Pontese (2200 meters) to Mount Punta Ondezana (3492 meters)
The last leg of this spectacular tour features a very beautiful descent that -through the glacier- leads to Mount Colle di Teleccio (3304 meters) and it keeps going through glacier Ghiacciaio di Valleile before going back to Lillaz-Cogne.
