Mont Blanc with its 4810 meter elevation is the highest and most prestigious peak in the Alps. Since when, on August 8th 1786, Jacques Balmat and Michel Paccard conquered its summit, every mountain lover wants to reach it at least once in a lifetime.
The climb to the summit of Mont Blanc from Gouter Refuge is the French Normal Route. It is an extremely evocative yet demanding path among snow, ice, crevasses, seracs and ridges. The view that this peak offers is spectacular and endless.
The ascent to the summit of Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco, 4810) through the Gouter Normal Route, the French Route, from Rifugio Gouter features an exciting, scenic and extremely rewarding climb. It does not feature extreme technical issues but it entails a good physical effort and a certain confidence with elevation and high mountain environments.
Day 1
The climb to Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco) through French Normal Route from Rifugio Gouter starts in Les Houches, by the Bellevue cable car station. Taking the cable car we will reach Bellevue and riding the little train we will get to Nid d'Aigle. An easy trail leads to Refuge Tete Rousse. At the rifugio there will be a refreshing stop before continuing the exciting climb to Mount Aiguille de Gouter. After crossing the "Grand Couloir" the climbers will reach a rocky spur through which they will get to the summit of Mount Aiguille. Through the snowy ridge, then, they will reach the new Refuge du Gouter where they will get lost in the spectacular views that the vista will give them. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
After breakfast, early in the morning the ascent will start again with a fast horizontal section on the ridge that allows the mountaineers to warm up before climbing the marvelous slopes of Mount Dome de Gouter almost until the summit. After a fast descent to Col del Gouter we will climb back up towards hut Capanna Vallot where we will find the first sun rays of the day. At the hut, within an incredibly evocative atmosphere, a refreshing break will take place. The following section of the climb develops through the ridge of Bosses. The last stretch is really exciting: the ridge gets more and more horizontal and it gets wider towards the top. After submerging in the spectacular views the hikers can start the descent that will take place through the climb route.
