Information about the ski mountaineering excursions

The ski mountaineering excursions to the Antelao and Pelmo require the implementation of a variety of alpine techniques: we climb with sealskins, crampons and pick, using ropes while climbing as a group; we descend particularly steep stretches or overcome cliffs and we freeride on skis.

Mount Antelao
Starting from Rifugio Scotter, the ski mountaineering excursion to the Antelao Mountain has an elevation gain of 1700 meters both on the way up and down or 2150 meters from San Vito di Cadore. Maximum incline is 45 degrees.

Mount Pelmo
The ski mountaineering excursion to the Pelmo Mountain has an elevation gain of 1222 meters in both directions starting at the Venezia Lodge, or 1600 meters from Malga Ciauta. Average incline is about 35 degrees.

Both excursions can be organized with one night at the winter bivouac. They require good training and mastering of ski mountaineering technical skills because of the OSA (Excellent Mountain Skier) rating.
